Google Announced Video Index Report in Search Console

The development of video on the internet continues to rise and increase a lot with the introduction of short reels or videos from Instagram and Tiktok, and Google Search indexes videos from millions of different sites, making it easy for users to discover and enjoy this content.

Google’s latest report in Search Console details problems it encountered when indexing websites that contain videos.

Google is introducing a new report with the Google search console called Video indexing. This will help you better understand the overall performance of your videos in Google searches and identify areas for improvement. At present, Google is only providing reports for text and images.

To find the Video indexing report, if videos are detected on your site, click the left navigation bar in the coverage section. Otherwise, you will not be able to access that report.

Google Search Console only reported on videos that had been marked up with structured data before today’s upgrade

The report displays the current state of video indexing on your website. It assists you in answering the following questions:

  1. How many pages has Google recognised as having a video?
  2. Which videos were successfully indexed?
  3. What are the issues that hinder videos from getting indexed?

Furthermore, if you resolve an existing issue, you can utilise the report to evaluate the resolution and track how your corrected video pages are updated in the Google index.

Please remember that this report is different from the Video Rich results report. The Video Rich results report remains intact and reveals which Video structured data items on your site are valid or invalid.

Google thinks the new tools would simplify comprehending how your movies / video perform in Search and identify and fix issues. For additional information on the best practices for video indexing, consult the video best practices handbook.
