SEO Case Study: Reading, Berkshire.
The Brief:
We were asked to improve search engine rankings and convertible traffic for a leading screen and digital printing company, based in Reading, Berkshire. The initial contract was for search engine optimisation of their website, plus six months’ maintenance, to ensure that the results showed continual improvement.
The original site was clean and well designed. It contained some text but had not been designed to rank highly in search engines. However, eight terms were ranking in Google, mostly on page 3.
What we did:
We spent time to understand our client’s business - their products, services and customer base, as well as their unique selling points.. We then performed detailed keyword and key phrase research, identifying terms that prospective customers were using in looking for our clients products.
Once we had these terms, we identified the terms for which there was less competition in the search engines. We then applied our skills and experience to optimise the contents of the website, along with providing marketing copy to walk customers through the website and to take them to a call to action. We were able to call upon our unique SEO copywriting skills to achieve this.
Changes were made to the site and some extra pages added. The site was tidied up by our web design partners and monthly maintenance applied to the site, along with regular reporting - to the client and ourselves - to enable us to proactively respond to any areas needing particular attention.
SEO Results:
Rankings on all leading search engines improved every month over the initial six month period. We have not yet seen any overall decline in rankings, helped by the monthly maintenance.
After 5 months, there were 154 terms ranking in the first 3 pages of the leading search engines, including 14 first places. We believe this to be a successful start to this search engine marketing campaign and, with continued monthly maintenance, we expect these results to improve further.
