Content, content, content...
I’m looking at buying a “new” house at the moment. We sold up around 6 months ago and we’re renting a house, while we’re looking. And what a chore it can be.
You’d think that some people really didn’t want to sell their houses. You’d think that they’d at least clear up a bit, find the vacuum cleaner, clean out the pets cages and not make us tiptoe around their teenagers in case we ruined their TV viewing. How inconsiderate we feel, trying to offer to buy their house. But not in that case, of course.
Of course, we’ve seen lots of really nice properties and you can change the property - repaint, add an extension or conservatory, put in a new kitchen and bathrooms, and so on. But once you’ve bought it you can’t move it. As they say, the most important thing, and the biggest challenge in getting it right, is location, location, location.
Put a cupboard in Knightbridge or Manhattan and someone will pay a fortune to live in it. Good luck to them.
In the same way as location is the most important factor in marketing a property, in marketing a website the most important item is content, content, content. Quality website content will bring visitors to your site and quality links to your site, thus helping to improve your rankings.
So before you get all obsessed with optimising meta tags and so on, take a look at the content of your site. That’s what really matters. No amount of smoke and mirrors will bring you conversions (i.e. Sales) if your content isn’t excellent.
And you know where to look if you need help and tips on SEO Copywriting of excellent site content!
